Across Nigeria, thousands of small-scale producers struggle to stay profitable. 

The problem isn't poor management. 

These small-scale producers have the equipment, the staff, the raw materials, and electricity supply. Their day-to-day operation could be poor — unsupervised workers, poorly maintained machines, disorganized production schedules, or untracked inventory. But those are operational inefficiencies that can be fixed by improving management, processes, training, or technology.

The problem is structural.

Nigeria has 10,000-100,000 small-scale producers. Each one:

• Sources raw materials individually

• Purchases equipment individually

• Negotiates logistics individually

• Searches for customers individually

That is why production costs remain high, even if every workshop is perfectly managed. No amount of better management can fully solve these structural inefficiencies.

Structural inefficiencies can only be fixed by addressing the underlying system in small-scale manufacturing that creates waste, friction, and poor quality standards.
